STRUCTURE, TASKS Currently, after reorganisation Research and Development Centre for Wood-Based Panels consists of the following parts:
- Technical and Technological Laboratory
Research Laboratory
- Laboratory for Product Testing
- Laboratory for Environmental Conservancy and Industrial Harmfulness
- Designing and Prototypical Laboratory
- Workshop and Prototypical Laboratory
- Centre for Scientific/Technical Information and Foreign Cooperation
- Small Poligraphy
- Computer science
Our institution provides services for wood industry. Besides, it does research and development, which is partly financed by Research Committee. The range of doing research is following:
Technical and Technological Laboratory does research into usefulness of various lignocellulose raw materials such us: wood waste, different industry waste and annual plants to produce wood-based panels.
The laboratory is also in charge of the following duties:
- technological, technical and energetic estimation of technological processes and new or structurally converted machines
- working out proposals of technological and structural changes on the basis of the carried out research and measurements
- doing research into manufacturing new products lignocellulose materials-based with using waste from other industries at the same time
The aim of our research is to work out a technology of manufacturing boards and composites from waste that might ballast environment.
Research Laboratory does research into physical, mechanical and hygienic properties of wood-based panels and composites. It has an accreditation of the Polish Research and Certification Centre. All Polish institutions and some European ones accept the results of its research. We do research of national and imported wood-based panels designed for national processing. The purpose of doing it is to state their conformity with hygienic requirements. The laboratory is equipped not only with machines and devices for determination of physical and mechanical properties but also with apparatus and devices for determination of content and emission of formaldehyde from wood-based panels and furniture materials. Besides, the laboratory is equipped with a unique, large chamber for emission research in which one can research not only materials but also furniture sets). The laboratory is in charge of research related to wood-based panels standardisation.
Laboratory for Industrial Harmfulness Control does research related to the protection of the environment such us:
- measurements of dust emission, toxic substances and their extension in environment
- measurements of environmental factors in work places such us: the volume of noise, dust, concentration of toxic substances, intensity of illumination and of effectiveness of ventilation
- specialistic measurements for selecting individual ear protecting pads giving solutions for reducing volume of noise such us: sound-absorbing casings, soundproof chambers, measurements of ventilation and dust exhausting installations needed for their regulation and modernisation.
Designing and Prototypical Laboratory has many years experience in building and modernisation of technological nodes, building anti-noise casings, soundproof chambers for service, building installations to remove volatile substances of varnish devices, building stay and ventilation. Installations and untypical instrumentation are used for technological research and product properties. Research depending on needs is carried out in various cycles. They can include:
- performing useful measurements
- working out measuring results and project assumptions on the basis of these results
- working out projects, their execution, assembly and activating installation or a device, checking and estimation of its operation
A range and a possible gradation are agreed on with a client each time.
Centre for Scientific/Technical Information and Foreign Cooperation collects and makes available specialistic information related to wood-based panels. The introduced information is on the basis of the Polish, foreign and patent publications. An analysis of all popular European and American magazines is made by us. Most of the information is passed on to people who are interested in it, by means of information notes published in Bulletin of Information Centre. Besides, translations from many foreign languages are made as special orders of institutes.
OINTWZ is also in charge of:
- patent information
- doing research into the purity of patent
- submitting inventions and trademarks of institutions to the patent office
New and efficiently printing devices give a high quality printing of both our own and ordered publications.
